I just moved in to my first house and have 2 bushes that are a purpley/green colour in summer and are now turning all different colours...purple, pink, red yellow orange...very pretty. The leaves are somewhat trilobed, softly serated and all different sizes...no fruit. Any idea what this is? Sorry no digital camera...yet...

thanks!!

RE: unknown bush

I'm thinking viburnum trilobum, American cranberry bush. (I think I have the Latin name correct. That's the common US name. Don't know if Canada would be any different :-) They should get fruit, but might have been trimmed back, in which case the fruiting ends were trimmed off. My favorite bush.

Congratulations on your new home. Happy gardening,
cantstop

Thanks cantstop!! I think you are right..we didn't move in until July so I imagine they would have flowered already and perhaps were trimmed back. Looking forward to the spring and winter hasn't started yet....
;-)
