Can I grow rapini?

We are just outside Ottawa and grow lots of vegetables. Recently, we have purchased rapini, also called broccoli rabe. Has anyone grown this in Ontario? Did it do well?

Thanks for reply!

RE: Can I grow rapini?

Should be easy to grow in your area, in fact, you probably have a near optimal climate for it, since it likes cooler temperatures. You can make successive plantings about every 2 or 3 weeks from very early spring until about mid-August. It does attract cabbage worms and flea beetles, so grow it under floating row cover, or dust with Sevin or an organic insecticide. It matures quickly, probably in about 6 weeks from sowing.
