I read a couple years ago about some southern magnolias in Lincoln Park near the zoo in Chicago that had been growing outside unprotected for several years. Does anyone here have any info on these trees????

I know that there are southern magnolias being grown in Cincinnati, though with marginal results. Also, crape myrtle is being hybridized for northern climates.
