This plant performs very well for me, blooming in May. Does anyone have any suggestion for how to extend the blooming period?

Hi Duane,

I looked around and saw a picture of this flower-beautiful! I did read that the blooms were fleeting, but maybe this will help below?

You didn't mention how long a bloom season you get, but from what I Googled, it sounds like 4-6 weeks is the limit.

I have N coerulea as of last fall, so it hasn't bloomed yet, but I have had N. gracilis for quite a few years. It blooms like the San Marcos site says for coerulea, but it doesn't self-sow. It does, however, walk all over the place, which is the reason it is known here as 'walking iris'. I like it a lot, tho' have to be extremely vigilant to keep it from taking over. So far the the coerulea is staying upright, but then it's the flower stems that bend over and root--if they follow the pattern!

Are all the blooms lavender?
