Will copper plants come back?

I have 10 copper plants that I had covered with a sheet, and they were fine. Saturday I uncovered them because of the sunny day, left them uncovered until I got home today. I went to check on them, to see if they needed any water, and the leaves had fallen off, and the tip of some of the plants looks black for about 2 inches. I was sick, and covered them up, but now I wonder if they are going to die, or if they will come back if I cut off the black parts off. I just can't believe our weatherman, he is always wrong, he said it would be in the 60's today. Is there anyone out there who knows if they are gone, or if they will come back. Should I go and put some superthrive on them, just in case? Barbra,

I've had just one copper plant outside now for--I don't remember--five or six years at least, without any protection. It always freezes to the ground, and it always comes back. Last year I didn't get around to feed it and it's been in the same large 'self-watering' pot without the soil being changed or anything all this time, and it was kinda puny, so maybe this year it won't make it, which would make me kinda sad and ashamed of myself. In the ground I would think they would all come back fine. I think it would probably be best to wait to cut it back or to give it ST--you don't want to stimulate it into starting new soft growth before we're safely out of 'winter'. More plants are lost when they start new growth and then get a little cold than are when the shorter days tell them to hunker down for the winter.

These plants are still in 1 gallon pots, waiting to be planted at Rockport. I got them at the $5 cart sale at Lowes.. I feel like I rescued them from freezing, but now I have to store all the plants until it gets warmer. I sure hope they make it, I have always wanted Copper plants. Barbra,
