Just saw this at Home Depot and invested a few dollars. Lots of contradictory information on the web. Anybody on the coast growing it?

I had it and really really liked it, but it seems to be kinda marginally hardy, or maybe it was the drought and the neglect my yard was subject to a few years ago. Likes full sun, needs water when we don't get rain (had it for quite a few years before the drought) and really not much else. Great hummer plant!

I grow it in the Florida Panhandle. It was damaged by the nights in the 20s in early December, but not totally destroyed and is already blooming again. I have it on the west side of my home and it has a little shelter. It seems to take the blazing heat in the summer well. I really like mine -- though it's gotten rather large.

Funny you should post this...I just picked up a healthy specimen myself at Lowe's...I love it so far, but it needs alot of water.
Haven't yet decided where it's going...probably along the fence.
Anything ORANGE gets my vote! LOL

I'm very happy to hear the Hummers like it as I'd not seen any last year! *sigh!

I planted mine several years ago in full sun, it is very hardy. I never water it. Hummers do like it. It can be trained as a vine. Any branch that touches soil will root so if you want to keep it from spreading keep an eye on it.

I also just purchased this plant, was wondering if anyone had any pointers before I plant it? (eg.:what size hole, fertilizer, soil mixture, etc...) I will be planting it along my chain link fence, hoping for a future screening...
