I had a GANG of robins in my garden this a.m., they were pigging out... they were also quite chubby! The resident mockingbird tried to chase them away and gave up. I counted 23 robins altogether. Is spring here? hmmmmSusan/giverny

We have robins year round, but spring is definitely in the air. Japanese magnolias and azaleas are beginning to bloom and I'm seeing buds on my swamp red maples and silverbell.

I am really depressed I tought spring was just around the corner now were getting hit with more freezing weather. I'm worried about the hummer I spotted two days ago. I hurt my back and had put off pruning and cleaning my flower beds. I guess everything happens for a reason.

The cold weather has hit here, too. The red maples have been blooming, and my silverbell has some new growth on it - I'm going to cover it tonight and tomorrow night. Robins come here about November and stay until spring, when they leave. They eat volumes of berries of all types, and hop around on the ground looking for worms and other insects. I know spring has arrived when they leave. Sherry |

I finally saw a robin this morning, and when I told ds about it he said there have been others around for awhile now. Guess I missed them because I concentrate on the little birds like finches and Carolina chickadees and tufted titmice. Haven't seen the Carolina wrens for awhile but they're usually here. I love watching birds! So do the cats, which worries me.
