? re: Hawthorns - Any body here?

Don't see any posts for this year. Spring is here and I'm sure so are the questions for the season. I have some compact Hawthorn. Planted last fall. They came through winter fine. One has some redish leaves with black spots on them. What is that? Otherwise look healthy. Thanks for any help!

Is this a European or Chinese Hawthorn?

The three I planted were Clara Indian Hawthhorn.
