Amaryllis and canna seed

| I was wondering if it is possible to start these plants from their seeds, rather than wait for new bulbs or tubers to be produced by the original plant. If so, is there a special technique? |

I've had volunteer canna pop up in my yard. I guess from bird droppins. They grew pretty fast. As for amaryllis they would be very slow to start from seed. Once you have a few bulbs, they divide pretty fast. I think that would be the best way to go. brenda |

I've grown amaryllis from seed. They take 5 years to bloom, 4 if you are lucky. Jim |

Look on the amaryllis forum for more info on this. They are always raising them from seeds & posting pics. I've got some around the yard that had to have come from seeds that blew in from the neighbors potted ones, the colors are the same & they are growing in strange places. Tally HO! |
