Shade plants for under oaks?

We are looking for fill in the bare spots with groundcover.
Something economical and kinda professional looking would be best since it's for in front of old ap'ts; ea is 150sq ft with a total of around 2000 sq ft.Thinking of putting something nice right up around the oaks and then having a nice drought resistant ground cover everywhere else. Th'x!

bromeliads do well under oaks

bromeliads, cast iron plant, or ferns all look great under live oak IMO. Ceratozamia cycads also look great but that would be an expensive ground cover.
