I have had good luck with red maples. Not so much with oaks.

Since we are in a hurricane zone it's a good idea not to plant something too close to the house.

A lot of fast growing trees don't live long so take that into consideration.

One last thing, check the tree section of the forum for advice on how to properly plant trees. It'll come in handy as I found out.

You can also look into tupulo trees and magnolias. By all means avoid chinese tallow (popcorn tree).
