I had a crop disaster last year. Healthy plants started dieing prematurely. I suspect GRUBS were dining on the roots. What's the best medicine to prevent this this time around? When and what should I do. Tnx. Grady

Grady, what kind of plants were affected? Did you see the "grubs"? What zone are you in? Doc

Doc, tnx . for the response. I'm in the NW area near Pensacola. Tomatoes, Bell pepper, and to a lesser extent, egg plants were all ruined by whatever it was. Grady

I would think that a parasite that could do that kind of damage to different plants in the same location would be well known by your county agent. Best call him rather than take guesses. A sample of the "grub" is the best way to identify it.

Florida is loaded with root-knot nematodes. That is your problem. It has been written about extensively here on GW. Do an all site search to learn what they are, how to recognize and treat them. Bottom line, you will figure out that some plants such as peppers and tomatoes are better Florida grown in containers
