Yep, I have a couple churns, one huge and uses a dasher, one is about a gallon capacity and uses a crank. Just put it in a mason jar and shake to poo out of it.

I used a jar when I was in college and would bring cream back from home. It works great. Just be sure the lid is a tight fit.

Hand mixer or jar and shake. Both work.
Save the buttermilk for biscuits!
