Problem with frozen broccoli from garden

I had a huge broccoli harvest this last summer so I blanched it and froze it. When I prepare it I have to be very careful or it will be too soft, so just barely cook it. Besides that problem it seems full of water and won't stay warm enough on the table to eat. Does this make sense? I've had frozen broccoli from the garden and don't remember these issues. Any suggestions?
