When the butcher forgot what the name was to put on the package? Perhaps that is why it was on sale? Methinks a visit to the store manager would make things right, at least to tell him there is a problem.

BTW my local store sells Italian Sausage in a package like ground beef comes in, loose. They mix it in the back and it is wonderful.

When did they start selling pre-seasoned ground meat???

Guess we must be weird down here then as it has been common on the meat shelves for the past several years - pre-seasoned ground beef (Italian, Garlic, Honey-Barbque, etc.), seasoned ground turkey, seasoned ground pork, etc. Some of it is exceptionally good.

It should have been indicated on the label but if not then take it back to the store.

I already cooked it - and it wasn't packed in store, it was a national brand. I know a lot of stores sell meatloaf mixes and such from the butcher's case.

Just meant another Italian night instead of the Mexican I was planning (not sure how the fennel would have been with salsa and rice).

We have pre-seasoned meat, especially turkey. I find that ground turkey really doesn't have much flavor.

I guess I haven't bought it in a while - I never even looked at the corner of the package, never thought it would be anything but plain ground turkey.

I usually add cumin and garlic to turkey (even if not cooking Mexican, cumin makes it taste a bit more like beef).

It was too spicy for DD, though it wasn't as spicy as hot Italian sausage.

Now I'll have to be careful to look at the packages - wonder what other flavors they come in? Though I do prefer to add my own seasonings.
