Getting dandelions for jelly

I would like to make dandelion jelly. I have dandelions in my yard but my husband put down fertilizer/weed killer down last fall. Is it ok to pick them now that it is spring or should I find different ones?

Do you know what he put down? Systemic herbicides can be tricky and should be avoided. If he used something like corn gluten, no problem. Maybe if you can find out what he used someone can help.
