My husband & I are taking a very long road trip, we like to take stuff to snack on as we travel, but we don't like a lot of sweets, candy, cookies etc. So I was wondering if I buy a package of the hickory sticks that come in a bag (unrefrigerated) and need to be refrigerated after opening, if I could open it and put two or three in a food saver bag and seal it if they would need to be refrigerated since they had been opened. I know you can buy single ones that don't need refrigerated but we happen to like other ones, I hope someone can understand what I am asking, Buy a bag that doesn't need to be refrigerated until opened, open it vacum seal some then leave them unrefrigerated. Thank you

Once exposed to the air (and the bacteria in it) they need to be refrigerated to retard the bacterial growth. Can't see how you could do it without exposing them to the air. Sorry. Dave

Thanks Dave, I kind of figured that may be the case but wanted to ask to be sure, Maybe I can find some that we like that are in smaller bags, We don't care for the Slim Jim ones but would be nice if we did.
