Just saw this info on eBay. Its for anoyone who is curious about induction heating cook tops and want to try one out. Its 1600 watts and the temperature is controlled from 170 to 390 degrees. These require steel type cookware as opposed to ceramic, glass or aluminium. Not sure if it would work with a BWB, but I suppose its worth a try.

Here is a link that might be useful: eBay induction heater

RE: Induction burner

I have an induction cooktop and think it's the best. However, not all stainless steel pots will work with induction. They have to have magnetic bottoms. If you can't stick a magnet to the bottom of the pan, it won't heat up on induction.

Good point. I was also concerned about the interal clad some are aluminium and some are copper, and some are both, or even cast iron inside. I do have a good magnet here, so will test my pots. Being a single burner it is quite a gimmick for anyone interested in induction heating. I used to work for a company that use a similar process using copper tubing cooled with flowing water. It was connected to a big RF (radio frequency) generator and would heat carbon up to red hot. We brazed some lead/indium solder onto some quartz glass and metal rings using that device. Red hot within 3 seconds after power applied.

Does anyone know of an item like a pop up splatter guard if you are using a cooktop in an island/

RE: Induction burner

Does anyone have experience with a Thermador induction cooktop with the Silver Mirrored Finish? My question is about the appearance after a year or two of use. I have a friend with a white glass conventional electric cooktop and the burners have all turned brown. Don't know if this is from the electricity burning the glass or from the pans. In any case, I would be very upset if I spend this much money on a product for it's beauty and then find the beauty is destroyed by use. I welcome any comments and info about this product.
