| Hello-- after much dithering, I have finally decided to get a pressure canner... yay! However, I have a glass top stove. I "think" the best way to handle this to get the 16 qt Presto one that can be used on the glass top, but get it with the intent of using it outside on the propane grill (we have a side burner that never gets used, thought I'd give the thing something to do). Anyway, I am not sure which weight/gauge thing to get. Here are the pics from the Walmart website (I may get it elsewhere, these are just for photo purposes) http://www.walmart.com/ip/Presto-16-Quart-Aluminum-Pressure-Canner/5913467 What I am not sure about, and I've looked on this forum and have been confused about it is which do I need to get-- the one with the dial or the one without? The canner without the dial has an air vent on top but nothing else (that I can see) and the other has the dial on the vent and a little gizmo beside the dial--- is that little thing the weight that I keep reading about here? Therefore, if the dial canner comes with the weight, should I go ahead and get it even though the dial is not preferred? I know, too many questions, but I really am confused here and could use some help. Thanks so much for the help! |

| Get this one Weight only pressure canner. It has no dial but has the 3 piece weight. If you buy the other one with the dial ($10 more) then you have to replace the weight it comes with the correct one for an additional $12. Dave |
