I oftentimes cut recipes in half if I've never made something and am unsure if I'll like it or if I just don't have enough for a whole recipe. Just be positive that you've halved everything correctly.

Ok, thanks! I thought I wasn't going to have enough green tomatoes this morning but it worked out perfectly! I bought some at the farmers market yesterday and WAY over bought.

It is a wise approach whenever working with a recipe that is new to you. Otherwise it just wastes food and money and time when it turns out you don't like it.

A safety factor is to re-write out the recipe using the halved ingredients. That way you are sure everything gets cut in half. Trying to do it as you go along often leads to mistakes in the ingredients.

And yes, you can also 1/4 recipes.

I even pulled a recipe down to 3/5 because that's all my cooking pot will hold. I had to use a calculator tho... Plus, my garden isn't big enough to reap a full recipe at a time...
