I need to harvest my mulberries soon, but am not sure I can get right to them to make anything (jam etc.). So I want to freeze them. Is it necessary to soak them in anything special like salt water or vinegar water, first? I've seen different suggestions on line, but thought I'd get some insight here.

If you know you want to make jam ... wash them, mash them with about 1/2 of the sugar the jam will need and pack them TIGHT into freezer jars. When you are ready for jam making ... thaw them out and make the jam.

Or you can just freeze them plain. Just wash, let drain, pack in ziplock bags and lay flat in freezer till hard. Weh thawed they will already be half macerated for you and you can use them however you want. Dave
