Looks very nice. I use pints since it's eaten so fast and the lids cost the same. Plus I have more pints than 1/2 pints.

Congrats, tracik3! That's very good looking strawberry jam. You should be very proud of your first attempt being so successful. I don't have any kids so I always make my preserves in 1/2 pints as well.

We ate some of this jam this morning and its really good. Proud of myself!! lol It is a little too sweet for us and I halved the sugar. So, will make with a little less sugar next time. Also, very slightly running. Not bad just a hair. The ball book said to cook on hard boil for 1 minute. I did it for 2 because it didn't look right to me. Next time I think I will do for 2 1/2 minutes. I wrote all this down so I will remember for next year. But, all in all I am really happy with it. I told my husband I will never buy store bought again!

I just did some this last week, it seems like it's runny, but getting thicker the longer it sets. Tip that I did find, that wasn't in my recipe. After adding the pectin and turning the temp off. Let jam set for 5 minutes stirring regularly to distribute the fruit BEFORE jarring it. I'm trying that next time, since I have 'fruit float' this time. This lady recommends the 5 minutes distributing time for most of her jams.

Worse case, strawberry pancake syrup OR ice cream topping.
