I think I might of asked this last year but can't remember for sure and I think the answer was yes but want to make sure. If I simmered more lids than I need is it ok to reuse them later? If a recipe says it will make 4 pints and I get more or less is this ok? If hot water bath says 10 minutes for pints and I want to do half pints is it still 10 minutes? Thanks!!

Yes you can reuse them later. The "makes" instructions are just guidelines so yes, if you get more or less within reason it is ok. But too much more or less is usually an indication that something was done wrong - measuring, the size of slices or chunks, filling the jars, etc.. Yes the time is the same for the smaller jars. You can always go smaller but must use the same time given but you can never go to bigger jars than called for in the recipe. Dave

Thank you so much for all your help! My mamaw used to can but I can't really ask her questions because she is old school and did her way and her mama's way. Not the correct way. LOL

Actually now Ball is saying you don't need to simmer the lids. I still like to put them in a small bowl and pour a jar of the hot water from the canner over them and let them sit in it while I fill the jars (and skim foam, free bubbles, etc.).
