Drove over to Bloomingfoods in Bloomington, IN this afternoon to pick up some Pomona's Pectin. It's 26 miles or better away and I don't go often, but its the only place I've found that carries Pomona's around here. Got four boxes and figure that will last me for a little while. I already have about five quarts of blackberries, a couple of quarts of blueberries and three quarts of strawberries to play with. Also, the blueberry bushes I've bought this year are pretty heavy with berries and I'm hoping the strawberry plants I have will do me proud. l also picked up a package of semolina flour. I really want to dig out the brand new pasta maker I bought about five years ago and give it a go. My mother used to fix homemade ravioli when I was growing up and made even the pasta part herself. I never paid much attention to her until she'd drop the meat mixture on it then used a ruffled wheel to cut them out. Wish I'd started doing all of this when I was much, much younger.

I have decided to switch to Pamona's this year. Thankfully they sell it 10 miles from me, which is only 1 mile from my SIL's house so on my way anyway! I only make low sugar everything for my kid and I just don't think the other stuff jells as well as it should and I can't make double batches, and boy do my kids eat jelly throughout the year. I should buy it in bulk, but I am going to see how it goes for the first few sessions this year. I am very jealous of your pasta maker though. Congratulations!

Kali615, I hope you like the Pomona's. I started to use it because both the husband and I are diabetic, but continue to use it because I like it. You can adjust it to the firmness of jell that you want. The first time I used it was in the Apple Pie Jam and DH loved it. He said it would make a great pie filling, too. Then I used it on the preserves that uses oranges, peaches and cantaloupe and that is my favorite. We can't tell any mouth feel or other differences in these or the few others I've made. I wanted a pasta maker for a long time, just never had a chance to get one. This was a brand new one off ebay at a very good price. We had a lot of medical issues after I got it and it was stored and forgotten. Hopefully I'll be making some good pasta this summer.
