Freezing tomatoes for canning later

I have seen posts about freezing tomatoes and canning them later but I can't seem to find it now. Can you tell me if all I have to do is wash them and put them in the freezer? I am going on vacation for a week so the tomatoes will have to be picked and I won't be there to can them.

From what I understand, that's it. Be sure to get as much as out of the freezer package as possible.

Helen,

I do that a lot when I'm overloaded and too pooped to can any more. I usually peel mine first, then freeze. Then all I have to do later is pull them out, defrost, and can away!

I have taken to coring mine first. Not required just easier to do I think than after they defrost. I don't peel them though since once they thaw the peels slip right off so none of the dipping in boiling water then in ice is needed to peel.
