Blueberry Peach jam

I'm looking at a recipe in my file that I have copied for Blueberry Peach Jam. I thought I had made it before but the amount of sugar seems excessive, almost 1 cup per jar of yield.

The ingredients are:

3 C. blueberries
2 C. fresh peach slices
1 pkg. fruit pectin
1/4 teas. cinnamon
7 C. sugar

Has anyone else made this recipe or would some of you more experienced canners care to give an opinion?
I have no idea where I got the recipe but I'm pretty careful about canning recipes.

TIA

jude

Seems a bit much for 5 cups of fruit. The NCHFP recipe for spiced blueberry-peach jam has 8 cups of fruit (4 peach/4 blueberry and no added pectin) using a tad bit over 5 cups of sugar.

I still thought the NHHFP recipe was a little too sweet, so when I make it again (since there's no added pectin, I don't have to worry about the pectin/sugar ratio), I'll add 2 cups-taste, add some more-taste, and sneak up on the sweetness :-)

I think it's b/c of the pectin. Try a low/no sugar pectin and adjust the sugar to your taste. It may not set up very well with regular pectin if you reduce the sugar.
