I boiled some jars and lids according to the Ball insstruction, I did not use all the jars, what do i do now? Do i seal them already sterilized, throw the lids away? First time canning, just prepared more jars than i needed. Help! Please, LOL.
I dont know what to do with them, throw them out, keep the lids seperate from the jar? or get new altogether.
Have a great day

Don't boil the lids, have them in slightly simmering water only. They would be best in a seperate pan with a small lid rack to help hold a dozen. If the lids get boiled for a long time the silicone sealing compound can break down and cause a poor seal. I just dry off the unused lids and use the next time. Never store a sterilzed jar as its not going to help if you sterilize and seal it, becuase you lose the lid and have to use a new one. Sterilizing jars today isn't usually necessary for high acid foods, if the jars are packed with boiling contents and are BWB. I clean my jars in a quick dishwasher cycle prior to filling.

Yep just put them away and re-do and use them the next time. For future reference, as Ken said, you don't boil the lids.

What did you can? You don't have to sterilize jars for anything that will be processed for 10 mins or more.
