Gifting fresh basil

I want to take some fresh basil to work to share with my co-workers. Is it ok to just put some leaves in a baggie? I don't want it to be moldy or stinky when they open the bag. (I'm thinking of individual bags for each person).

Why don't you arrange the basil stems in a vase with water & carry in some plastic baggies. Your friends can pack their own.

Basil wilts very quickly unless you transport it while it is in water.

Tried this and know from experience.

I agree, in water is best. However, if you just can't transport in a vase, you can wrap the stems in a very damp paper towel and place in a large ziploc bag with the top left open.
I second the opinion to let them take the amount they want.
