Dh picked 122 tomatoes tonight, filled a 5 gallon bucket. I still have 3+ gallons of picked tomatoes from 2 days ago. I'm just about sick of tomatoes.

Bar-B-Q sauce, BBB Stewed Tomatoes (with celery, peppers, and onions), Tomatoes & Zucchini, Tomato Relish, Shirley's V8 Juice Cocktail, Rotel (Copy) Tomatoes, etc. :-) You know you can always freeze them whole to work on later, even this winter. Dave

Yeah, but my freezer won't hold another bag of anything. I've got 6 gallons of frozen tomatoes in there now. I hadn't considered stewed tomatoes and I use a lot of those. Thanks!

Could also consider oven-dried tomatoes. I generally freeze mine after drying, but they then take up lots less room.

We don't even get started with a 5-gal bucket, not worth it. We make tomato juice (very thick) for chili, try to get about 50-60 qts, spaghetti sauce (another 30-40 pints&half), some diced tomatoes with onions/peppers (misc recipes, about 50 1/2 pints). We don't use alot of tomatoes, but try to have enough canned of any 1 crop to last 2 years. We do this because we never know if the next year's crop will be a success or not. Have done this for years, so every other year or so, we'll do tomatoes, another year-beans, another year-corn. We do peas and beets whenever we can get a good crop or deal. I raised 3 boys back in the 70-80s and kept my food budget down to about $20-30 per week, with help from the garden. Now we live on less than $1200 per month for EVERYTHING.

Wow mff, that's a lot of tomatoes. This is the first year I've had enough to do any canning. I was thrilled at first, but now it's getting old. I can't imagine having to can that much every day.

What about chili sauce, ketchup, tomato paste, and jams? Should still be a safe tomato soup recipe floating around here from KatieC that's really good.

After reading a thread here last year about Ball's Chili Sauce being a great "close to Manwhich" meal I made a batch and now wish I had made more. I am waiting for my tomatos to come in and will surely be making a double or triple batch this year. Actually I tried going back to Manwhich and my kids wouldn't eat it ;-(
