I boiled mine and chopped it up and then dehydrated it before I ground it up in a spice grinder. Most of it did not last long, it got some sort of mold so my next crop will go in the freezer for storage. I think the boiling is because you can't get all the dirt off the roots, so the hot water sterilizes them.
