I suppose you could use them for jam/jelly only if you wanted to since the only safety issue with them is molds. So while not approved for home canning, it is your choice.

But they would still have to be BWB processed.

Some members have used similar jars for boiling water bath canning. Annie and one other member (sorry, name escapes me) used them to make wedding favors.

They work fine, the only issues being it can be a bit more difficult to discern if the jar is sealed and of course, replacement lug lids are not as easy to find.

Thank you! I was asked to make baby shower favors, and thought the small jars would work well. I've seen BWB instructions online, just wasn't sure if the results compared with the standard mason jars.

I've used something similar and they work just fine.

I'm not sure where you're located, but there a couple of companies on the East Coast (PA for one that I have gotten great customer service from) that carry jars like that. Might save you some $ in shipping. I can post their info if you're interested.

Malna, thank you for the offer. I'm in New Mexico, a bit far from the East Coast. I'll see where suppliers are located before ordering. Glass is always expensive. I don't know if the jars are carried locally.
