Know it's a bit late, but I just now found this thread.

I made the jam last year, and wasn't sure I was crazy about the seeds in it, but it would take a whole lot more ground cherries if you strained the seeds out. Also, I thought it was a bit too sweet.

I believe the recipe in the link below is the one I used, but if you do a google search, you may find one that uses less sugar.

I ended up just making a husk cherry sauce with mine. I simmered the cherries until soft, pureed them with my immersion blender, then added half the amount of sugar by volume. My intention is to make husk cherry bread - using my applesauce bread recipe, but subbing the husk cherry sauce.

This was my first year growing husk cherries. I was happy throwing a few into salads, and even a few into fresh salsa. I personally think my best result would be if I could find a salsa recipe suitable for canning that used these. But I can't even find a ph for them, so I'm not sure how to substitute them.
