can you dry onions inside?

I don't have a place that is protected outside, to dry my onions. Most spots get sun at some point during the day, and I don't have a garage. I do have an attic spare bedroom that gets pretty hot, would this be a good place to dry onions on a screen?

As long as you can handle the odor. :) Set up a fan on low speed in the room to keep the air moving. Stagnant stale air doesn't work at all well.

Well, it will be any overnight guests who will enjoy the odor, so it works for me :) Great idea, I will put a fan on, as well.

They can be real strong and may permeate the drapes, furniture, carpet, etc.

Oh, that is good to know Linda Lou. It's my first year, and so far I've picked 4 onions, so it's not that strong. But, when I pick the rest, I'll try to do most of the drying outside, if possible. I just ate my first red onion that I picked yesterday. It had a flower, probably because of the extreme heat we had last week, so I ate it right away. I was very lucky, a neighbor gave me some fresh haddock he caught yesterday, so I cooked it up with the red onion and some hot peppers I picked today :) Can't get much more local than that!
