I just finished canning 7 pints of whole kernel corn. Via the Ball blue Book and NCHFP they only show pints and quarts. I have no more pints, but plenty of half pints. I don't need quarts (just me in my house). Can I go ahead and can it in pints, and use the same processing time of 55 minutes? Thanks for any replies! June Lynn

Yes you can put it in 1/2 pints but you use the processing time for pints. Dave

Thanks Dave. Processing time for pints is 55 minutes. I just want to be on the safe side, always!

You can always reduce jar sizes in canning as long as you follow the processing time for the next-largest size provided. Carol

I canned for my mother last year and put everything in 1/2 pints for her. She's diabetic and portion control is important. 1/2 pint is usually the perfect portion per person.
