If you want to store them as dry beans, then, yes, let them dry on the vine, The pods should turn completely crispy and probably tan. The beans inside should be dry and hard. Then pick and shell beans out of the pods. I would leave them to further dry where they can be spread fairly shallowly, perhaps in 13 X 9 pans. After a month, I'd do the freezer treatment (if wanted). Be sure to save some for growing next year.

They will not be soggy after freezing if they were not wet going into the freezer.

Agree. Fully dried on the plant first. Then shell them by threshing and winnowing. Freeze for 48 hours but make sure they are fully dried first and spread out in a thin layer on a cookie sheet or such. Then store in jars out of direct light.
