Yes. I much prefer it that way as I don't like the results of Clear Jel. The jar count will be off as more fits in each jar since it isn't as thick.

Of course you can also just can them plain and then turn them into pie filling when ready to bake. That way they can be used for lots of things besides pie filling.

I do mine plain, I have lots of simple old recipes that just call for 'fruit'. I don't add sugar either, just some lemon juice or fruit fresh.
