jalapeno jelly

I made some jalapeno jelly. I didn't have enough jars prepared so I put the last of it in a refrigerator container. As soon as It cooled I sampled it. It was plesantly hot. quite stiff.

I opened a jar at a family gathering. Everyone liked it but... It had NO heat and was the proper consistancy. It had the taste of jalapenos Just no heat. Why?

Would I be asking for trouble if I left some seeds in the next batch?

The container in the refrigerator is still hot and it takes a sharp knife to slice it!!
