Peppery Pear Salsa - Ball Complete

Posted by ekgrows (My Page) on

Anyone made the peppery pear salsa from the ball complete book? Picked all my pears, just waiting for them to ripen up. Will make cinnamon pears, pear bread, and pear wine, but still have some to use up.

Thanks!

Yes, we made it last year. It's a completely different salsa, flavor-wise. The spices in it take it in the direction of Indian-inspired. It's not the best salsa for eating with chips, but it makes a great accompaniment to an Indian meal. We like to eat it with Naan- I'll use it in place of a chutney too.

It's very good, but it's nothing like what I think of when I think of salsa.

Well - I FINALLY made this (only a year later - lol) and it is interesting. Sweeter than I would like - should have used a little more vinegar, and possibly subbed some hot peppers for the sweet. Funny - when I had it in the canner, it dawned on me that it is missing onions! How can it be called salsa without onions? :)

Anyway - it is different - and not at all bad - just not my style. Unless the family LOVES it - will probably not make again.
