| I would like to make this recipe from Ball:
Pomegranate Jelly yeild about 6 half pints 3 1/2 cups pomegranate juice (about 5 pounds)
To prepare juice: Cut pomegranates in half. Extract juice from seeds with a juice reamer. Strain juice through a damp jelly bag or several layers of cheesecloth. Measure 3 1/2 cups juice. To make jelly: Combine pomegranate juice and powdered pectin in a large saucepot. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Add sugar, stirring until dissolved. Return to a rolling boil. Boil hard 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Skim foam if necessary. Ladle hot jelly into hot jars, leaving 1/4 inch headspace. Adjust two-piece caps. Process 10 minutes in a boiling water canner. What I needed to know is can I just used bottled juice? The ingredients label says: pomegranate juice from concentrate, (filtered water, pomegranate juice concentrate) and natural flavors. All natural, no sugar, sweeteners, colors or preservatives. I remember my mom making jelly from bottled juice, but a lot of what she did way back then isn't safe anymore. |

| It'll work fine. I used pomegranate - raspberry juice (commercial bottled) last year. It was a big hit. |

| Thank you both for your replies. Booberry85 the pomegranate - raspberry sounds delicious. I'd love to try that! How did you know how much sugar or which kind of pectin to use? Was it 100% juice without sugar? |

| Yes, the juice was just juice with no added sugar. I just bought the juice at the grocery store (it may have been in the organic section though.) I can't remember the name of the juice! I think my recipe (from Sure-gel) is the same as yours. So I used 1 box of Sure-gel and 5 cups of sugar with 3 1/2 cups juice. Easy! It looks very elegant in the jars - beautiful color. |

| I didn't want to use up all my red raspberries this year for jelly and jam, so I needed a 1/2 cup of juice for the jelly. Used pomegranate, 100 % POM for the juice no problems. The jelly, however did set up faster than what I was used to , 1 minute at rolling boil and it was done fer sure. |
