| How versatile are the tomato mill/squeezer devices? (Not the general food mills) They have some on clearance at Williams Sonoma for less than $20 (originally over $70). Can they be used for apple sauce, etc? |

| It depends on the model and brand. There are really good ones, quite versatile. And there are some really bad ones that are a waste of money. Can you post a link or pic to the one you are considering? I checked their website and don't see any models near that price. Is it top crank or side crank? Metal or plastic? Clamp on base or vacuum base? A Foley type mill or a Victorio type mill? Dave |

| I have an old Squeezo, it works like a champ for applesauce, goes through a bushel of apples in no time flat. I also use it for tomatoes, but the berry screen will still let a few small seeds from something like raspberries through. My mother handed it down to me, so it's old, but my DH has a newer model Victorio and it's good for apples too. We both have the Foley food mill, the kind that sits on top of a bowl and the crank is on top. That works fine with cooked apples, but I used to do a LOT of apples and it was time consuming and you have to clean the peels and seeds out periodically. Dave is right, it depends on the model. | It is an Italian brand - Tre Spade. The crank was on the side. Combo of metal and plastic parts. |

| oukay, I looked that up, it's on the WS website. It says it can be used for applesauce and it looks much like my DH's Victorio. I can't tell you how sturdy it is, or how well it works, because I'm not familiar with that particular brand, some are better made than others, but that type should easily handle cooked apples for applesauce. | Probably ok if no parts are missing. Marked down that much when they are still offering the same one at full price makes me wonder what is wrong with the on on sale. Dave |

| They are clearancing a lot of them with a Labor Day Sale. I did get it for $17.50. I will let you know how it works. Thanks all. |
