How sweet is Ball's Red Hot Sauce?

Recipe says it's "sweet and tangy" - we're looking for hot, not sweet. I've got 4 lbs of tomatoes to use ASAP - not sure how many cups, may need to halve recipe. But can the sugar be reduced greatly, or even eliminated?
