| I was canning the ball apple slices in the extra light syrup (1 1/4 cup sugar and 5.5 cups water) well my apples turned to mush. Now I'm making applesauce, added some blueberries and 4 T lemon juice. Is it safe to can with the syrup sauce? |

| It depends on the variety of Apple. I think it was Galas that I had the best luck with holding their shape. But - have been in the same position as you. Did a batch of quart of can't remember variety - they came out of the canner looking like mush. So I opened all the jars, dumped them in a pot and made applesauce, all the while cursing the amount of time I spent peeling and slicing apples. |

| Well I have to day the blueberry applesauce it turned into is fantastic :) gonna try strawberry applesauce today |
