| So, the search engine turned up a few discussions about this but most of those old discussions cannot be opened. Why is that? Have the posters deactivated from Gardenweb?
Years ago when I started doing freezing, it seems I learned somewhere that reusing freezer bags for food storage was not recommended. But I do not recall why. For years, I will reuse the bags for non-food items, and mark the bags with an X. Is there a bonafide reason for not reusing the bags? I seen many discussions about reusing vacuum seal bags, but what discussions remain didn't discuss freezer bags. Curious what you all do/don't do. |

| I reuse my Vacuum bags for freezing..after turning inside out...scrubbing well in hot soapy water, dipped in a weak sanitizing bleach water, then hung to dry. I think I only use them 2 or 3 times max before tossing. I try to only use those reused bags for meats...not veggies. I will reuse the bags with fruit or veggie for veggies or meat...AFTER the cleaning process. I just mark F or V or M on bag I am planning to re-use so I am extra careful. I have reused Gallon Zipper bags...BUT...I tend to prewrap meat then put them inside a Zipper bag for short term freezing. I only do this when using a vacuum bag for a few days is stupid. I really hate the smell of those Ziplock freezer bags...so I really don't like to put fresh food in them if I have other choice. Smell the inside of them...and tell me that is a good thing...LOL! |

| Absolutely reuse them! (After washing well, of course.) The only time I don't reuse bags is if they've had raw meat in them - or sometimes greasy cheese. |
