Food safety and handling make sense. Besides canning and freezing we also eat them fresh, in salads and cooking. here are a few ways to make them safer. I have learned a few tips and I want to mention here.

POTASSIUM PERMANGANATE:

It is an old time vegetable wash. It kills a lot of bacteria and also can wash the pesticides from the fruits and vegetables. Just ad tiny amount to water until it shows PINK/PURPLE color. Then soak your fruits and veggies in it for10 to 15 minutes. Then just remove them, place in a colander. This not only disinfects also can get rid of pesticide residue , Your fruits an veggies will last even longer.

There are simple ways to wash and disinfect fruits and vegetables.

Cool! Thanks for sharing that.

(I read somewhere the Army stopped using it for water purification because it turned the soldier's teeth pink-go figure) :-)

Most of time, just a good washing off with good water will do the same thing. If you don't think your water is 'good' enough, then use distilled water.
