Any Preppers out there?

Since buying the food dehydrator a few weeks ago, I've been reading lots of things on the internet about "prepping" for survival. Whether it's for natural disaster or something else, I think it's interesting. My husband has been after me for years about this....I always thought of it as hoarding :-)

Anyway, does GW have a formal "prepping" forum? I ask because though I've looked through the list of forums here, sometimes the name throws me a bit. When I first starting reading Garden Web forums, I thought the Harvest forum was for farmers that harvested fields. Never knew it covered so many other things.

Anyway, I'm starting to get interested in this prepping idea and was wondering if any of you know of a good forum to check out?

Val

The Homesteading Forum is the closest prepper here.

Check out MrsSuvival.com forums.

Hello there! Its not hording at all. My grandparents would have called it self suficient living! Mainly because they both lived through the great depression era.

I have a forum at www.prepperlog.com if you guys ever want to stop by. Take care and stay prepped!

Here is a link that might be useful: www.prepperlog.com

Hi Val. I call it self suficient living. I think some go a little extreme. But with the economy the way it is. I think we all have to arrange our way of living to make ends meat now. When you have children and grandchildren ,I think we all try to put back to help out. I know Ive been doing things different and stocking up.Iam in Florida so everything I stock up on has to be kept in a cool place and in 'FOOD SAFE" buckets . Iam making ice cream toppings with cookies before they go stale.Making bread crumbs with all my day old bread for bread crumbs.Hanging laundry out on the line. Getting ready for chickens for fresh eggs.We built a coop. Learning how to garden.Iam canning and freezing. And getting a food dehydrator(when money allows). In the mean time iam reading all I can on dehydrating.Iam doing many other things as well. It would be nice if there was a forum for "Self Suficient Living", Everyone could share their ideas on saving money and getting throu this. It's a thought.Iam also couponing. Every little bit helps.. Google "sufficient self". I've been reading and learning loads there. Found this site googling foamy jelly. First time I've made jelly so I wasn't sure if I messed up or not.
