Hi, I fear I know that answer but looking for advice. While BWB jams and jellies yesterday notice rust from the metal rack in the water. Does the rust water in the pot cause a problem for my jam? Does any of the water get into the jar? The lids did seal just fine. Should I just dump it and start over or any chance it is ok? Thanks for any replies.

Does the rust water in the pot cause a problem for my jam? No, none of the water gets into the jam but I'd replace the rack and eliminate the problem. Dave

Thank you for the reply, glad to hear the jam will be fine. I am looking at new racks and DYI racks for the future. Have been lurking on this site for awhile and always find it informative and useful.

You don't need new racks, soak them in some vinegar and then wipe dry. Should take care of the rust. You may need to soak for a day or so. Vinegar is a wonderful rust remover, also frees up tools accidentally left out in the rain.
