can you roast frozen tomatoes?

I noticed on an old post that somebody used frozen tomatoes to make Katie's Tomato Garlic Soup. Do you thaw the tomatoes, is there anything I should do differently to roast frozen vs. fresh tomatoes?

RE: can you roast frozen tomatoes?

You can but thaw and drain them first. Freezing breaks down the cell walls so much of the liquid they contain is released. Trying to "roast" frozen/thawed tomatoes without draining first wouldn't be roasting. If would be stewing. :)
