Off Topic Discussions

I'm creating this post for anyone that wants to discuss anything off topic. Want to debate food safety? Do so here. Want to debate the USDA's methods? Here's the place to do it. See something in another post that you take issue with (that's not relevant to the original post)? Link the post here and discuss it.

There have been WAY too many posts that have gone WAY too far off topic lately and I'm sure the OP's don't appreciate it too much. Not to mention that it has compromised the relevant information in the original posts.

Sorry rodney, It's so easy to go off topic.

RE: Off Topic Discussions

And it's going to get confusing trying to put all the things that wander off topic into 1 thread - we'd have multiple conversations going on here?

How about if something OT comes up on a thread (esp. on one where someone has a specific question and just wants an answer ASAP so that they can get their recipe done) the person raising the question just starts a new thread?

myfamilysfarm- No need to apologize to me, I don't mind reading off topic stuff. It's just not fair for the OP's to have their posts hijacked for the purposes of debate.

ajsmama- That's a good point, I hadn't thought of that. It would get messy if there were too many discussions running simultaneously. And it certainly would be easier to start a new post every time something off topic comes up. Unfortunately nobody is doing that. They just continue the debate in the hijacked post. Something has to be done and so I came up with this idea. It's not the greatest idea, I'm not even sure it's that good of an idea, but it's something.

Well, at least if people read this thread it will remind them to start a new one for each NEW topic instead of hijacking another thread.

I know I am one of the people who tends to veer off course...
