I'm going to hot pack and pressure can some roasted red peppers tonight and I wanted to add pickle crisp since last time my peppers were mushy. My pickle crisp says 1/8 tsp for pint jars, will it taste bad if I use 1/8 tsp for the half pint jars? I prefer to do smaller batches but don't want to overdue the pickle crisp if it will give a funny taste. I've never used it before.

I would use less for the 1/2 pint jars. I never use more than called for and usually reduce it a bit. The 1/8th may be ok but PC can add a hint of bitterness if too much is used. Just dump the 1/8 tsp. into a mound on a cutting board and cut it into 2 separate piles - close enough. Dave

Thanks Dave! I will do that. Does it matter if I add it to the jars before adding the peppers and water?
