Even" L", you know the big box building center had all their canning stuff HALF price. Several of the" K " grocery chains had their extra cardboard display stuff half price. including labels, some jars, some pectins, mixes, pickle crisp, lids etc half price.....
It was from that big green cardboard display unit..... that was on a seperate aisle from the regular small stock on the regular shelving.
I forgot to check "M."..... couple of hours ago.
just chiming in

Good news! Now if I just knew who or what L, K, and M is/are. What's the reason for not naming names? No reason you can't that I know of and it is done here all the time.

I gotta check the L0wes here. I found good clearance prices beginning of last Oct at Big Y (local grocery chain) but they haven't put them on clearance yet this year (and not much left). And W@lm@rt actually *increased* their prices this month, though we stopped by tonight for yet more jelly jars and they were nearly cleaned out. Big L0ts has been out of stock for a while.

Do you think that means there has been a great demand? I noticed W@lm@rt started selling BH&G brand pre-packaged fabric square "toppers" and gingham-patterned lids. Maybe lots of people making jam? But I sure didn't noticed people buying lots of tomatoes or peppers for canning when I was selling at farmer's market this summer.

Too bad. Don't have either Kroger or the Meijers down here and the only Lowes is more than 40 miles away.

My Lowes doesn't even carry canning supplies. I checked last year about this time. Of course, things change and I should stop to see.

I get a discount through my husbands job and picked up a case of standard pints for just over $6 yesterday. It'll be hard to beat that unless someone really wants to clear out stock.

Thanks for that tip. I will check all the Lowe's and Kroger in my area.
